Terms of service
Last updated: 2 October 2026
These terms apply when you install or use MerchLight, a Shopify app operated by Paulo Lopes, London, United Kingdom ("MerchLight", "we", "us"). By installing the app you agree to them. If you use MerchLight for a business, you confirm you can accept these terms on its behalf.
What MerchLight does
MerchLight reads data from your Shopify store and, if you connect it, your Google Merchant Center account. It finds problems that can affect your sales and shows you how to resolve them. MerchLight is read-only: it does not change your products, orders, settings or Merchant Center data.
Your account and access
- You need a Shopify store to use MerchLight, and a Google account with access to Merchant Center to use the Google features.
- You are responsible for the people who can access MerchLight in your Shopify admin.
- You can disconnect Google or uninstall MerchLight at any time.
Plans and billing
MerchLight may offer a free plan and paid plans. Paid plans are billed through Shopify, on your Shopify invoice, at the price shown when you choose the plan. Free trials, if offered, end automatically on the date shown. You can change or cancel your plan in the app, and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds follow Shopify's billing rules and applicable law.
Acceptable use
Please don't misuse MerchLight. In particular, don't try to access data that isn't yours, interfere with the service, reverse engineer it, or use it to break the law or the Shopify or Google terms.
Results and figures
MerchLight's scores, issues and money figures are based on the data available from Shopify and Google at the time of the scan. Money figures, such as past sales of out-of-stock products, describe what happened, not a guaranteed loss or gain. Always check important decisions against your own store data.
Availability
We work to keep MerchLight available and accurate, but the service is provided "as is" and may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or when Shopify or Google services are down. We may change or remove features over time.
Intellectual property
MerchLight, its name, logo and software belong to us. Your store data remains yours. You give us permission to use it only to provide the service, as described in our privacy policy.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost sales, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for MerchLight in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ending the service
You can stop using MerchLight by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously breached or if we stop offering the service, in which case we will give reasonable notice where possible. When you uninstall, your data is deleted as described in our privacy policy.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you inside the app before they apply.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, unless the law of your country gives you the right to use your local courts.
